Have a look at this short graphic narrative I produced with PositiveNegatives, on the issue of gender-based violence (GBV) in Burkina Faso. The piece depicts the complex lived experiences of survivors, and shows how radio broadcasts tackling GBV and discussing women’s rights can lead to greater understanding and openness about their trauma.

I am currently working on raising awareness of gender based violence in conflict-affected areas in francophone West Africa. By discussing the topic , the research aims to promote awareness and understanding not only of GBV, but also the manner in which to present this topic in a culturally sensitive manner given the constraints of social norms, and of available resources and support.
Alongside this, I am working with the Dart Center on understanding and better defining trauma in conflict-affected areas of Africa. We’re starting with a systematic review of terms and then aim to starting researching working with Swiss media development organisation Fondation Hirondelle.

Research
Having worked on multiple research projects in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, and also the West Bank in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, I have investigated new methods of reaching hard-to-reach communities and promoting wider participation in research projects.
